A Journey of Faith: Building Upon the Promise

FROM THE ADMIN’S DESK – On May 31, 2026, Chapter Head Jerome delivered two inspiring speeches marking BCBP Kalibo’s 27th anniversary milestone. The first during the Regional Breakfast Meeting and the second, just before the Fellowship celebration began in earnest. Drawing a striking parallel, CH Jerome maps the history of the Kalibo Chapter against Abraham’s monumental journey from Ur to Canaan, beautifully capturing how their spiritual trajectories mirror one another. I highly recommend everyone give these a read.

My dear brothers and sisters in the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals, honored guests, and fellow travelers in faith:

Good morning!

Twenty-seven years.

In the grand timeline of the universe, it is a blink of an eye. But in the life of a community, it is a lifetime of shared meals, fervent prayers, marketplace struggles, and triumphs of the spirit.

Today, as we stand on the threshold of our 28th year, we don’t just celebrate a date on a calendar; we celebrate a covenant.

When I look at the faces in this room—those who were here in 1999 and those who joined us just this year—I am reminded of a man who lived thousands of years ago in a land called Ur. Abraham was his name.

His story is the DNA of our journey. Imagine the scene: Abraham was settled. He had his family, his business, his comfort. Then, a Voice interrupted his peace. God didn’t give him a map, a five-year strategic plan, or a brochure of the destination. He simply said and I quote: “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Abraham had to leave the “familiar” to find the “faithful.”

Twenty-seven years ago, the pioneers of BCBP Kalibo heard a similar whisper. They were called to bring the Gospel into the messy, competitive, and often cold world of business and profession. They had to leave behind the secular mindset of “profit at any cost” and step into the unknown territory of Integrity, Service, and Love. God promised Abraham: “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”

We must remember that when God promises “greatness,” He isn’t talking about the size of our bank accounts or the height of our office buildings. He is talking about the reach of our impact.

Like Abraham, we started small. There were a few seeds planted in the soil of Aklan. But look around you tonight. We have seen God turn those seeds into a “great nation” of professionals who choose honesty over shortcuts. We have seen families restored and businesses transformed.

Our parallel to Abraham is clear: We were called to build. The pioneers found a void, and through sweat and prayer, they filled it. Those who followed took that foundation and reinforced it. We have all worked to leave BCBP Kalibo a little bit better than when we first found it. We didn’t just inherit a chapter; we inherited a mission to cultivate it.

However, the most beautiful part of Abraham’s journey wasn’t the land he reached—it was the man he became along the way. The journey from Ur to Canaan was the “chisel” God used to mold Abraham. Through the droughts, the long treks, and the moments of doubt, Abraham was being crafted. The same is true for us. These 27 years haven’t just been about building an organization; they have been about God building us. In our moments of financial struggle, He taught us Providence; In our leadership conflicts, He taught us Humility and, In our community service, He taught us Compassion. His presence in our journey has been the “Divine Sculptor.”

We didn’t just build a chapter; the Chapter built us into His image. We are more like Christ today than we were 27 years ago because we chose to walk when He said “Go.” As we celebrate this milestone, let us not become “settlers.” Abraham was a nomad of faith, always looking toward what God had next. Let us commit today to keep building. Let us ensure that the BCBP Kalibo we hand over to the next generation is even stronger, even more vibrant, and even more deeply rooted in Christ than the one we celebrate this day. We are a people of the Promise. We are a people of the Journey.

Happy 27th Anniversary, BCBP Kalibo! May we continue to walk with the courage of Abraham, fueled by the presence of the Living God.

To God be the glory!
