KALIBO, AKLAN – Discerning the future of marketplace transformation, the BCBP Northern Panay Region and Kalibo Chapter and Malay Mission members gathered on April 11, 2026, for a high-impact Leadership Discernment Retreat (LDR). Hosted at the Royal Suites Condotel, the event featured a specialized morning training for regional facilitators followed by a deep-dive retreat for chapter members in the afternoon. With RCD Bro. Roberto ‘Bobet’ Quiambao at the helm, the day was a powerful exercise in identifying the servant-leaders called to lead the community’s mission forward.

“Our goal is to identify the right leaders for the Kalibo BCBP Chapter.” – Bro. Bobet
Facilitators’ Executive Session

The exclusive Facilitators’ Training was held right after the Joint Breakfast meeting that featured Argie and Arlyn Nallos of BCBP Estancia as guest sharers. At this morning session, the indefatigable RCD for Northern Panay bro. Rotelo Palmes, the current Chapter Heads from Kalibo, Roxas, Roxas East, and Estancia and, the Senior Leaders of Northern Panay set about to learn from bro. Bobet how to effectively conduct LDRs in their areas of jurisdiction – all with a view to ensuring that the discernment process remain aligned with national BCBP guidelines.
BCBP EVANGELIZATION STATEMENT:
National Strategic Planning Retreat 1
“Creating disciples of Christ in the businesses and professions, who bring out a transformation of the marketplace by living out Christian values and practices not only in their personal and family lives, but more importantly in their respective businesses and professions.”
A Foundation of Scriptural Reflection

The general Leadership Discernment Retreat for Kalibo Chapter and Malay Mission members commenced after a brief lunch break with a mini-praise and worship led by CH Jerome and the BCBP Kalibo Music Ministry. Thereafter, Bro. Bobet began his talk on “Leadership in the Kingdom” where participants were asked to engage in individual scriptural reflections, drawing wisdom from several key passages such as:
- 1 Timothy 3:1-7: Outlining requirements such as being temperate, sensible, respectable, and hospitable.
- Titus 1:5-9: Emphasizing leaders be blameless, upright, self-controlled, and not arrogant.
- Matthew 20:20-28: Reminding leaders that greatness is defined by being a “servant” and “slave of all,” following the example of Jesus Christ.
- Acts 20:17-35, Mark 10:42-45, and John 21:15-19.
Strategic Assessment through SWOT Analysis
A critical portion of the afternoon was dedicated to a SWOT Analysis workshop. This strategic tool allowed participants, particularly the members of BCBP Kalibo and Malay Mission, to honestly evaluate the current state of their chapter:
- Strengths: Internal attributes helpful to achieving objectives.
- Weaknesses: Internal areas needing development or improvement.
- Opportunities: External environmental attributes helpful to the mission.
- Threats: External challenges the chapter must navigate.
In a “pre-retreat” activity conducted online, some members highlighted the Servant Leadership & Governance and their unique mission focus as key strengths and, Commitment & Engagement Gaps as Weaknesses. A full summary of the SWOT Analysis can be downloaded from here.
In the end, this assessment helped answer the core reflection question: “What leadership traits and abilities does our Chapter need today and for the future?”.
The Discernment and Nomination Process
The LDR concluded with the formal nomination proper. Following strict privacy guidelines, participants discerned and nominated a minimum of eight (8) members who have demonstrated proven loyalty to the BCBP vision and mission.
Nominees are identified as potential major leaders for the Chapter rather than for specific service positions. These hand-written nominations were turned over to and tallied by the outgoing Chapter Head bro. Jerome. In the coming weeks and months, RCD Rotelo, and Area Managing Director (AMD) Pol Chan will conduct further interviews and deliberations to reach their final discernment. Ultimately, the recommendees will be elevated to the BCBP Management Committee (Mancom) for their seal of approval.
Living the Mission
As the BCBP Northern Panay Region moves forward, the LDR will be a cornerstone of its governance in the hope of ensuring that the marketplace is transformed by leaders who live out Christian values in their personal, family, and professional lives. By seeking leaders who are “rational, prudent, and hospitable,” the community reaffirms its commitment to creating true disciples of Christ in the world of business.
