The fire of mission and evangelization burns brightly in the hearts of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) in Aklan. Today, a new chapter is unfolding as the Governance Team sets its sights on a monumental milestone: elevating the Malay Mission into a full-fledged BCBP Outreach.

This transition is more than just a change in nomenclature; it is a testament to the growing spirit of marketplace evangelization in the region and a concerted effort to establish a permanent, robust lighthouse of faith in Malay.

Leadership United: The Driving Force

Achieving outreach status requires visionary leadership, strategic planning, and unwavering commitment. This journey is being championed by the collaborative synergy between the Governance Team of BCBP Kalibo (the mother chapter) and the dedicated local leaders of the Malay Mission.

Together, these leaders are laying the groundwork, mentoring members, and fostering the community spirit necessary to sustain an independent outreach. Their shared vision ensures that the spiritual and structural foundations of Malay are solid enough to support the upcoming expansion.

The Blueprint: Goals and Key Steps Forward

The road to becoming a proper outreach is paved with specific milestones designed to ensure the community’s long-term viability and alignment with the national BCBP mission. The Governance Team has outlined a strategic blueprint focusing on the following key action areas:

1. Foundational Requirements for Outreach Status

To successfully navigate the transition from the Mission Stage to the Outreach Stage, the Malay Mission must satisfy several core prerequisites established by the ODP¹:

• Presence of a fully trained Governance Team, including an Outreach Head, Unit Leaders, and specialized ministry heads;²
• Successful completion of at least two Brotherhood Christian Life Programs (BCLP) using local course and discussion leaders³.
• Establishment of a minimum membership young base of forty (40) members who are fully enculturated into the BCBP Way of Life.⁴
• Demonstrated capability to run local activities independently, including Breakfasts, First Friday Masses, and Formation Talks.⁵

2. Financial Viability and Independence

A critical benchmark for autonomy is financial independence. The ODP guidelines state that a mission’s tithe average must be sufficient to fund all local needs independently of the mother chapter. While the current Malay Mission average is Php 19,000.00, it must reach the national threshold of Php 30,000.00 a month⁶ to satisfy the criteria for Outreach status.

To bridge this gap, the leadership is launching a focused educational drive. Some Malay members need to be deeply educated on the spiritual necessity of tithing within the BCBP context and the communal advantages it unlocks. Furthermore, it is essential that Christian Life Program (CLP) No. 2 members begin tithing immediately and regularly, integrating this vital commitment early in their spiritual journey to help the mission achieve its financial goal.

3. Vibrancy of Fellowship and Meeting Frequency

Nurturing the brotherhood requires consistent, diverse touchpoints. The Malay Mission is shifting gears to ensure Breakfast Meetings are held four times a month⁷. This robust calendar includes:

• The regular Saturday Men’s Breakfasts for the first Saturday of every month.
• Breakfast After Dark on the second Friday evening of the month to accommodate different business schedules
• Joint Breakfast meetings with spouses to strengthen family foundations on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
• The strategic continuation of satellite Breakfasts in the municipality of Nabas, which adjoins Malay, expanding the mission’s territorial reach on the fourth Saturday of the month.

4. Aggressive Capability Building and Training

To handle the structural weight of an outreach, leadership capacities must be expanded. The Governance Team will conduct extensive, targeted training for the Breakfast Head and the Breakfast Team to ensure high-quality, inspiring fellowships. Simultaneously, specialized training will be rolled out to prepare the community for the upcoming Brotherhood Christian Life Program (BCLP), which serves as the primary gateway for bringing new professionals and businessmen into the fold. In this regard, it is essential to reach out to the husbands of Malay Mission lady-members and encourage them to join the BCBP. This effort is crucial to ensure that male membership exceeds female membership, which is a key structural requirement for our development toward outreach-hood and eventually, chapter-hood.⁸

The Path to Approval

The transition from Mission Stage to Outreach Stage follows a rigorous and orderly process to ensure total readiness for the eventual journey toward Chapterhood:

The Approval Process: When the criteria are met, the Mission Team must craft a formal 3-year Outreach Development Plan (Roadmap⁹). The Chapter Head then submits a case for endorsement to the Regional Council Director (RCD) and Area Managing Director (AMD). Final approval for the elevation of status resides with the President.¹⁰

Countdown to July 2027: A Celebration of Faith

The wheels are already in motion, and the timeline is clear. The Governance Team has set a firm target for the official elevation of the Malay Mission, which is slated to take place no later than July of 2027.

This historic milestone will be marked by a formal celebration and fellowship to be held in the scenic municipality of Malay. It promises to be a momentous occasion—a gathering of brothers and sisters from Kalibo, Malay, and across the region to witness the birth of a new outreach, dedicated to bringing Christ into the marketplace and transforming lives.
