26 Years of God’s Faithfulness in BCBP Kalibo: A Call to Servanthood and Mission

FROM THE DESK OF THE ADMINISTRATOR: This article presents two inspiring welcome messages delivered by Chapter Head Jerome Quimpo on May 31, 2025, during BCBP Kalibo’s 26th Anniversary celebrations: the Grand Breakfast and the Anniversary Fellowship. On both occasions, CH Jerome eloquently and beautifully articulated a twofold vision for the future. He emphasized a necessary shift towards individual responsibility and a collective embrace of the role ‘servants to the mission.’ This involves applying learned principles, sharing unique gifts, and taking ownership of the shared mission, all with the aim of advancing Christ’s work and building God’s kingdom within BCBP Kalibo.

Distinguished Guests RCD Rotelo Palmes and his lovely wife Rechelle; our valued first timers; senior leaders; members of my Governance team and my dear brothers and sisters, Good morning and To God be the glory!

We owe our very existence to the courageous and selfless brothers of the BCBP Roxas Chapter, who answered the Lord’s call to be missionaries and faithfully cultivated the vineyard of Kalibo. They guided and trained us with unwavering patience until we could stand on our own and carry forward the mission of bringing Christ into the marketplace, and winning the marketplace for Christ!

To our beloved past chapter heads—our very own “Tatangs”— abo gid nga saeamat! Your continued nurturing of the vineyard is the very reason we’ve come this far. Each of you played an essential role in laying the foundation on which the next generations of leaders continue to build.

As we move forward, let us future-proof our community by building on a foundation rooted in service and mission. Do not be afraid to say “YES” when God calls you to serve through this community. Rest assured, when God calls, He equips! He will pour out His grace to sustain each one of us working in His vineyard so that it will bear fruit.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that
you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last.” John 15:16

Let us be the first to say, “Here I am, Lord. I will go, Lord,” when He asks, “Whom shall I send?”

Let us be a servant to the mission of Christ, embracing boldness and faith. Taking risks, stepping into new roles, and accepting new responsibilities with confidence in God’s promises. Being a servant to the mission means recognizing that you were chosen for a purpose.

“I am not speaking of all of you. I know those whom I have chosen.” John 13:18

A servant to the mission is a servant leader. True leadership is servanthood, modeled by the greatest leader of all—Jesus Christ.

“Though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a
thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a
servant.” Philippians 2:6-7

God has already commissioned us to be His disciples and fulfill His mission here on earth. All He asks is that we remain faithful to His word. By saying “YES,” we ensure the continued growth and vitality of our community. Each of us has a responsibility to care for God’s vineyard—to fertilize, prune, and water it, so that it may flourish.

Finally, let me leave you with this powerful and comforting promise of God from the book of Isiah:

“Do not be afraid for I am with you, I have called you each by name,
you are mine” Isiah 43:1

Let us continue to serve others by serving Christ. To God be the glory—now and always!
