Engaging the Next Generation: Why BCBP Kalibo needs Christ’s Young Professionals (CYP)

BCBP Kalibo targets young professionals

The Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP) recognizes the importance of building a vibrant future. As the organization matures, attracting young couples and Christ’s Young Professionals (CYP) becomes crucial.

This focus aligns with a key goal from the 2015 BCBP National Strategic Planning Retreat: Evangelizing emerging market segments. The data is compelling. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (January 2018), a significant portion of the workforce, nearly 27%, falls between the ages of 25 and 34. Expanding the scope to include individuals up to 45 years old, this demographic represents almost 60% of the employed population.

Creating a Space for Growth:

Young professionals are at a unique stage. They’re often searching for their passions, defining their identities, and navigating career trajectories. This necessitates a supportive environment specifically designed for their needs.

Instead of solely relying on existing social circles (often consisting of childhood acquaintances), creating dedicated CYP groups allows them to connect with peers facing similar challenges and aspirations. This fosters strong personal relationships, fostering growth and fellowship as they embark on their journeys as adults and professionals within the BCBP community.

Benefits for All:

Engaging CYPs is a win-win situation. Young leaders bring fresh perspectives and a renewed sense of purpose to the BCBP. In turn, BCBP offers them a faith-based support system and guidance as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of their careers and personal lives.

I’m firmly convinced that a CYP group can be a valuable addition to our BCBP community. It would provide a dedicated space for young professionals to connect, grow in their faith, and serve together.

The longer we wait, the more we miss out on the opportunity to empower and support this important demographic within our community. Let’s act now while the momentum is strong.

By working collaboratively, I believe we can establish a thriving CYP group that benefits everyone in the BCBP Kalibo family.

In God’s Perfect Time:

I am reminded of 1 Timothy 12 which states:

“Let no one despise your youth but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity”.

New Revised Standard Version-Catholic Interconfessional (NRSV-CI)

While young people are constantly searching for a role model, it is important for them to start building themselves up as someone worth admiring by others. By having faith, being pure and loving people is what can help the youth be someone to admire.

BCBP Kalibo can help them grow into productive and admirable members of society and by doing so, we help ourselves as well.
